Resume Work History - 7 - Easy Stages to Resume Success
By Jerry Pohn

A short while from now, you could have your dream job. Wouldn't your friends and family be totally amazed? Wouldn't you feel fantastic about it? Well, let's get on with it...

Your resume work history and professional experience are arguably your biggest concern when creating a resume. The following three questions will help you to prioritize your work history and professional experience for your resume.

* What is your career objective?
* Are you looking for a career change or professional growth?
* What experience have you had that will enhance your professional goals.

Getting started on your resume is probably the hardest part. For me, the easiest is to chronologically list all of your work experience beginning with your current or latest job.

1. Start with your dates of employment, job title, company name in full, including where it is located.

2. Next work out how much experience you have had across the various positions within the same industry.

3. At all costs try and keep your resume no longer than 2 pages. When listing experience the most recent 5 jobs you have held will suffice. If these take up more than 2 pages, narrow down your experience to the last 3 jobs.

4. Don't go further back than the last 10 to 15 years of experience. If your professional career is very long, then target the last 3 to 5 jobs, however use the summary or profile in the beginning of your resume to mention how many years you have been working in total or in a specific industry, gaining specialized skills.

5. Highlight all responsibilities that are transferable across multiple industries.

6. Keep your experience listed chronologically so that you do not create awkward work for yourself by having to explain these gaps.

7. Lastly, remember that you can always include additional qualifications in your cover letter that was not covered in your resume.

A concise and well written resume will showcase you as the ideal candidate for the job you want.

Find out everything you possibly can on the best method of listing your resume work history. This is really important.
